Federal government investments can encourage public transit agencies in large urban areas to learn from early adopters of on-demand public transit and consider hybrid solutions.
For the sustainable adoption of on-demand public transit services, there is a strong need to develop open guidelines that Canadian municipalities can use in the planning, design, and operations phases, writes Bilal Farooq, the Canada Research Chair in Disruptive Transportation Technologies and Services.
