The unlicensed daycare lacked appropriate fencing and other necessary precautions, a report from the municipality’s building department says.
The report – taped to the front door of 4076 Juniper Cres. – outlined the findings of a Feb. 2 inspection conducted about a week after 20-month-old Waylon Saunders was found unconscious in the pool. The report by Lambton County’s building services department listed several deficiencies under Petrolia’s fencing and pools bylaw, as well as immediate fixes required at the property. From our newsroom to your inbox at noon, the latest headlines, stories, opinion and photos from the Toronto Sun.
Finally, the report indicated an interior sliding door – located near a hot tub in the pool enclosure – didn’t have a functional latch or lock. The homeowners, the report stated, had also not obtained a permit for the hot tub installation. Rick Charlebois, the town’s top administrator, declined comment “because there is an ongoing OPP investigation of that whole situation.”Article contentAn inspection report by Lambton County’s Building Services Department, dated Feb. 3, was taped to the front door of a house on Juniper Crescent in Petrolia.
