OPP allege they pulled over a suspected impaired driver and found $3.7M in illicit drugs in the vehicle
An Alberta man is facing serious drug charges after being pulled over for impaired driving near Massey on May 9.
Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police’s Manitoulin Detachment report that shortly after 7 p.m. on May 9, OPP received a complaint regarding a black pickup truck parked in a residential driveway on Highway 17 in Sable-Spanish Rivers Township.When officers arrived, they spoke to the driver and they, too, believed the man to be impaired by alcohol.
“The driver was arrested, and their truck was searched,” OPP said. “Police seized approximately 25 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and 15.2 grams of suspected cocaine.”“With the support of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Canine Unit, police also seized $3,400 in Canadian currency, a weight scale, 39-millimetre rounds of ammunition, packaging materials and two cell phones.”As a result, the 35-year-old from Chestermere, Alta.
The accused was held for bail and was to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Virtual Bail Court in Sudbury on May 10.
