The Bureau of Immigration commissioner says the latest scam victimizing OFWs is a 'big security issue.'
MANILA, Philippines – Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco on Wednesday, November 30, ordered BI’s Port of Operations to coordinate with the Manila International Airport Authority in investigating recent cases of human trafficking which may involve immigration and airport personnel.
In a Senate hearing on Tuesday, November 29, a victim said he was able to skip the immigration line and other processes through fake IDs and immigration “escorts.” He said airport security and police intercepted three victims carrying airport passes early this month.
