International Master Daniel Quizon downed FIDE Master Stephen Rome Pangilinan to seize the lead in the rapid event after three rounds of premier 18-Under Open division of the 4th Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championships in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.

The win kept Quizon perfect with three points as he battles fellow PH bet FM Alekhine Nouri in the fourth round at press time.

Nouri drew with Mongolian Otgonbayar Chinguun to slip to a share of second with 2.5 points in this seven-round tournament. Quizon also leads the standard section of the 16-Under class with 6.5 points after seven rounds ahead of Michael Concio Jr., who has six points, and Nouri, who tallies 5.5. He will complete a triple crown if he ends up ruling the rapid and standard events following his victory in the blitz category recently.

Quizon topped the blitz section over the weekend to add to his conquests in the Asian Juniors in Solo, Indonesia last month and the Southeast Asian Games selection tournament in Manila a week back.
