ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) received a major boost in operational resources, with additional equipment turned over by the city government on Wednesday.The city government handed over 80 Taurus T4 caliber 5.56 assault rifles and 250 units of Motorola handheld radios to strengthen the ICPO's readiness.The ICPO also received three of the 16 patrol cars it requested, with the remaining 13 units expected to be delivered by the second quarter of this year.ICPO chief Col.
Kim Legada said the patrol cars will be stationed in its new police stations in M.H. Del Pilar, Jaro (Station 9) and Gaisano Capital Iloilo City Center Mall (Station 10).In July last year, the Philippine National Police activated four new police stations in Iloilo City.Legada said they are targeting two patrol cars each for the four new police stations.He added that the ICPO now has 51 patrol cars from the city government and 14 from the national government.'These will bring a significant impact in the conduct of our police operations, especially in our communication. We appreciate the city government's efforts to provide us with the devices we lack,' he said.During the turnover ceremony, the city government also awarded certificates of commendation to the best-performing police stations in terms of illegal drug operations.Cited were Station 1 for September and October, Station 10 for November and Station 2 for December
