B.C.’s civilian police watchdog is looking into an incident where a man on a motorized bicycle sustained serious injuries while Ladysmith RCMP were attempting to make a traffic stop.
Police responded to a 911 call about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday about a man on a motorized bicycle who was reported to be waving at passing motorists and possibly in distress. The caller said the man was on the Trans-Canada Highway near Westdowne Road. Police located someone matching the man’s description a short time later in the area of the highway and Platt Road.The Independent Investigations Office will determine if police actions played a role in the man’s injuries.
