Trade Minister Don Farrell has invited European Union Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis to come to Australia to finalise a free trade pact.
Both ministers agreed to meet in person in coming months, with Senator Farrell said Thursday’s meeting had been “productive”. “I’m prepared to persist for as long as it takes, and to work as hard as I can on behalf of Australian producers and businesses to get a better deal.” New Zealand received an increase of 38,000 tonnes for lamb exports, although its agreement has been otherwise criticised for not achieving sufficient gains for Kiwi farmers.
