Analysis: Myles Gray was talking to himself, acting oddly and strolling shoeless around the south Vancouver neighbourhood abutting Burnaby.
Sahota said she had no training for dealing with such a situation and has since taken a course in dealing with mentally disturbed individuals but thought she wouldn’t have done anything differently given his “animalistic” and “barbaric” conduct:
Before support arrived, Sahota followed in her vehicle and said he tried to wave down passing motorists apparently trying to get their help to flee. Folkestad said he, too, couldn’t remember a great deal because of the trauma he suffered and it was so long ago.Article content His demeanour changed “quickly, he lowered his head and he charged me. I didn’t have time and he was arrestable.”
“Because other officers arrived, I thought we would survive the incident,” said Folkestad, who also said he feared for his life.Article content She didn’t see what happened next, didn’t see any blood, didn’t see what the arriving officers did and thought the disturbed man was under control.
