NRL: Brisbane Broncos Selwyn Cobbo has asked Billy Slater to not be picked for Origin as he takes leave to deal with some physical & mental issues.

Sharks superstar Nicho Hynes has broken his silence following his second Origin axing, explaining he believes he need to “get better”.

It’s the second time Hynes has now been dropped after the series opener, having been removed from the bench following a 12-minute stint off the bench in 2023. As soon as he found out he hadn’t won the No.7 jersey, Hynes made contact with Moses to congratulate him. “Madge gave me the call and he gave me the reason why he was going with Mitch and I have accepted that. I’m fine. I’m not offering up any excuses. I just need to get better.”Hynes also revealed Maguire had invited him to the MCG to attend Game II, however that depends on the Sharks’ training schedule ahead of Round 17.
