'I miss him every day': Family mourns Latjor Tuel one year after police shooting yyc
Calgary police shot and killed Tuel after he allegedly attacked a police service dog. Police had been called to the scene in the southeast community of Forest Lawn after receiving calls that Tuel had allegedly assaulted someone in the area.Article content
She said she continues to have unanswered questions, including surrounding the length of ASIRT’s investigation and the release of police body camera footage.Article content “I miss him every day. I see him in my dreams, I see him in my sleep, I see him when I wake up, and it just kills me that I can’t hear his voice anymore. I keep replaying his videos on Facebook, just to see his voice, just to see him laugh again,” Latjor said.
During the vigil, Latjor remembered her father as an “amazing man” who believed in what was right. She said he was deeply connected to nature and to learning, teaching her how to read, write and cook.Tuel’s younger brother Lim Kuony said he believed his brother’s race played a role in the police shooting.
