Annastacia Palaszczuk has held off on commenting on her future as Queensland Premier until she returns from holiday as her tenure continues to come into question amid decreasing popularity with both voters and her own colleagues.

Ms Palaszczuk is currently on her second trip to Europe this year and reportedly staying at a five star hotel in Naples with her partner Reza Adib.

The Premier was upset at photos being taken of her and her partner on what was supposed to be a private holiday, The Australian reported. "I am on leave. Everyone is entitled to leave. I ask that the media respects my privacy. Steven Miles is Acting Premier. I return on September 11," she said. Her trip means she will have spent more days on holiday than sitting in parliament this year with 37 days on leave and 25 sitting days so far along with a 3.5 hour budget estimates hearing.

Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick defended Ms Palaszczuk’s holiday as he fielded questions from Sky News Australia host Laura Jayes on AM Agenda on Tuesday morning. “I think she’s as energetic as you could have in a leader. She’s got plenty of energy and she’s demonstrated that time and time again over eight years of her leadership of this state,” he said.
