Just one week out from jet-setting off on the trip of a lifetime, with what she thought was a valid passport, Melanie Vujkovic discovers she needs at least six months validity to travel — cue panic.

"It would help if there was an email that said 'by the way your passport expires in 12 months and you need six months to travel'."
