Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review: A Futuristic EV Still Turning Heads in 2026

Amid a fuel crisis-driven EV boom in the Philippines, we revisit the Hyundai Ioniq 5, a pioneer electric vehicle that continues to stand out with its radical design, spacious interior, and clever storage solutions, even five years after its launch.

The ongoing fuel crisis has accelerated the adoption of electric vehicle s in the Philippines, with the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines ( CAMPI) reporting a 133.5% year-on-year increase in sales of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicle s, reaching 24,356 units by May 2026.

The surge is driven by the affordability and lower operating costs of EVs compared to diesel or gasoline vehicles. Entry-level models like the VinFast VF3, Tesla Model 3, and Model Y are particularly popular among early adopters and single-car households.

However, the CAMPI report excludes sales figures from BYD, a major Chinese EV manufacturer not part of the association. In this context, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, one of the first full EVs available in the country, faces questions about its relevance nearly five years after its launch. Despite its age, the Ioniq 5 retains a striking and futuristic design that remains competitive.

The 2025 facelift introduces restyled bumpers, a reconfigured roof spoiler, new rims, and signature parametric pixel LEDs, enhancing its distinctive look. The interior continues to impress with a spacious cabin得益于 a 3,000mm wheelbase and a panoramic sunroof. The design maximizes usable storage, featuring a "universal island" console with a wireless charging pad, cupholders, and multiple USB-C ports that can be pushed back to create a walk-through space.

The dashboard houses twin 12.3-inch screens behind a single glass panel, complemented by shortcut buttons and a touch panel for climate control, though the latter and other piano-black surfaces are prone to fingerprints. Front seats offer heating, cooling, and built-in ottomans, while rear seats provide power adjustment and heating but lack adequate thigh support and contouring. The Ioniq 5's enduring appeal lies in its combination of eye-catching style, practical interior, and established presence in a rapidly evolving EV market

Louvre's Apollo Gallery to Reopen After 2025 Crown Jewels Heist, Without JewelsLouvre's Apollo Gallery to Reopen After 2025 Crown Jewels Heist, Without JewelsParis's Louvre Museum will reopen its Apollo Gallery on Wednesday, but the space will no longer display crown jewels after a brazen 2025 heist where thieves stole eight pieces worth 88 million euros. The gallery will revert to its 17th-century function as a state gallery. Culture Minister Catherine Pegard will attend the reopening. The museum's president Christophe Leribault confirmed the removal of all 'collections and precious objects' previously shown. The theft, carried out by robbers disguised as construction workers using a truck-mounted lift, remains under investigation with the jewels missing. Plans are underway to build a secure, windowless vault elsewhere in the museum for the remaining jewels. The burglary exposed major security lapses at the world's most visited museum, prompting leadership changes and a parliamentary commission review of museum security in France.
