OLG is requiring employees to return to the office for a minimum of two days each week

Businesses of all sizes and classifications across the city are crossing their fingers for a smooth transition into the winter season amid concerns surrounding COVID.

“It’s two worlds kind of colliding,” he says. “It’s trying to find that appropriate balance to getting back to that environment where in-person collaborations can also be just as productive as managing your time independently in a remote work setting.” In an email to SooToday, OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti says 90 per cent of the employees at the Foster Drive headquarters have expressed their desire for a hybrid work model.

Other large employers and institutions like the Sault Area Hospital, Algoma University, and Sault College still have some of their administrative and office staff working from home. Meanwhile, many businesses located downtown – particularly storefronts, shops, and restaurants – don’t have some of the same luxuries much larger organizations have at their disposal when it comes to adapting to a hybrid model.
