Hundreds of sharks have been spotted off South Australia's Kangaroo Island in incredible new photos. 9News

The sharks photographed are believed to be bronze whalers, with some great whites swimming nearby.

The photos were snapped by Australian photographer Luke Stevens while he was flying in a spotter plane en route over the island.Stevens said he saw the sharks on the south side of the island and attempted to identify them. "I'm not 100 per cent sure if they were all bronze whalers, there were definitely a few great whites on the edge," he said. The sharks are thought to be in a feeding frenzy, swarming on southern bluefin tuna, which are migrating through South Australia to Indonesia for breeding season.
