Human Resources Ministry denies backing foreign worker recruitment system

Malaysia is heavily reliant on foreign labour, in particular its service, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 9, 2023.

THE Human Resources Ministry has clarified that it has never discussed the foreign employee recruitment and human resource management system with any party. “MOHR hopes that the explanation will answer any questions or confusion among employers or the industries, especially the diplomatic representation of the source countries in Malaysia, regarding the SPDRM,” read the statement.

The MOHR explanation was referring to a media report yesterday saying the SPDRM would be able to address the issue of human trafficking as well as expedite the entry of foreign workers into Malaysia. The report also said the SPDRM complied with the regulations surrounding the recruitment of foreign workers. – Bernama, April 9, 2023.
