NSW Police say a search of dense bushland in an area of the Illawarra escarpment has now concluded and the remains are undergoing forensic testing.

Police today have confirmed the remains, found just metres from the Wollongong Motorcycle Club, are human. No other information about the remains, or how long they may have been at the site, has been released by police. The discovery was made in an area of the Illawarra escarpment where work is underway to build a new mountain bike track.Dozens of officers, including detectives, searched through the dense bushland on Thursday and Friday.

Eight police cars and a forensic van were parked at the scene on Friday as officers worked under a portable gazebo.Wollongong Motorcycle Club is an MX, Trials and Enduro dirt bike riding facility.
