Chris Bowen will find it harder to maintain his preferred speed for new fuel efficiency standards as the pedal eases off the metal in EV sales.

This is designed to encourage sales or subsidies of electric vehicles or other more fuel-efficient cars to compensate for the greater impost on heavy-emitting SUVs or diesel-powered utes.
