One of the most expensive boats at the Sydney International Boat Show, the Nomad 101, is being marketed to self-managed superannuation funds.
The Nomad 101 comes with five bedrooms, two Daimler engines and a fringe benefits tax exemption.
Australian Superyachts managing director and local importer Richard Morris is promoting the four-deck boat to self-managed superannuation funds, which, he says, can use pre-taxed income to invest in what is, legally, a floating business.Anthony Bell’sThe maths works like this, according to Morris.
“It’s like a three-storey apartment with a rooftop bar and the view changes every day,” he says. “Why would you want a waterfront home when you can have all of this?” Sydney’s Nomad 101 is the first built by Gulf Craft, a United Arab Emirates manufacturer undercutting European competitors by up to 40 per cent, according to Morris. The numeral 101 refers to the length, although it is an act of poetic licence. The boat is 99-and-a-half feet long, or 30 metres.
