One bright spot was a month-over-month increase of three per cent in starts for single-family detached homes to 45,200 starts annualized. Quebec was the only province to see an increase in starts, rising by 7,300 units in January from December to a level of 34,600 new units on an annualized basis.Article content
It further added the decline in multi-family starts is likely reflecting market demand weakness bleeding over from already significant decreases in single-family home activity over the past several months.
