Households are 'better than they have been' under a newly introduced national cabinet energy plan aimed at providing support to working Australians, Nine's political editor Charles Croucher says. 9News
Croucher said most Australians won't see the relief in the bills immediately."The relief will be handed to the states and they will distribute it to the people in the state."
The plan will be about protecting Australians from the increase that is still to come, Croucher said.$1.5 billion support package will be paidState and territory treasurers will work on their own packages to provide support to residents and the relief will come into effect next year.Nationals Leader David Littleproud toldthat the challenge for the government would be the decision to take away incentives for the industry.
"What you do by putting a price cap? You take away the incentive for gas companies to do more. You give investment signals to go to other countries," he said. "This is a challenge that the government, while taking the right step in giving relief to households."
