THE House Committee on labor and employment approved Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, a substitute bill that seeks to implement a P200 across-the-board daily wage increase.The panel, consisting of 10 members, unanimously approved the measure, which is a consolidation of House Bill Nos. 514, 7568, and 7871.The approval came after House Speaker Martin Romualdez expressed support for the passage of a bill granting a P200 daily minimum wage hike.

He also said that while the proposed P200 increase is a welcome relief, it is still far from what labor groups consider a “living wage.”He noted that workers ideally need at least P1,200 per day to cover basic necessities and support their families.
