THE House of Representatives has reportedly amassed enough votes to initiate impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte , House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.In an interview with reporters, Velasco said 153 members of the lower chamber have signed up, supporting the fast-tracking of Duterte ’s impeachment.
This came amid the ongoing investigation of the House committee on good government and public accountability on the alleged irregularities in the use of public funds by the Office of the Vice President, as well as the Department of Education from 2022 to July 2024, the time VP Duterte served as its secretary.VP Duterte refused to face the probe, maintaining that there was no irregularity in the use of public funds allocated to her office.
