Horseracing world in shock over all-time last-to-first comeback
An absolutely wild finish to a race in South Korea has left the horseracing world in shock after Lala K came from nowhere to win the 6f Seoul Rookie Stakes.
The two-year-old colt was in just its second race after a first up win over 1000m at the same track in July.But after a horror start, Lala K looked to have been done by the halfway mark as the pacesetters took off at a blistering pace.As the horses turned for the straight, Lala K was dead last and seemingly no hope of coming back.But came back to win.
“Now coming flashing down the outside is Lala K,” Middleton called. “Look at Lala K! Look at Lala K go! Look at Lala K win! From the clouds …” Immediately there were comparisons to Kiwi, who won the 1983 Melbourne Cup and the only horse to go last-to-first in the great race, or Chautauqua, who was well known in Australia for the gelding’s incredible finishes.Another tweeted it: “Looks like a video game."More commented: “What have I just watched?” and “That was a CRAZY final stretch”.
US Sports betting reporter Matt Rybaltowski added: “The argument for in-race wagering? Maybe 100-1 on Lala K on the clubhouse turn??”
