A large-scale hooning event forced the closure of a Queensland street this afternoon.
A crowd of almost 400 people gathered on Bourke Street in Waterford West in Logan as some drivers performed dangerous stunts.READ MORE:"It's disgusting," one woman told 9News.
When 9News asked one man about the reason behind the gathering he explained "mate, it's a party, it's just a party, it's family". At one point multiple police officers were surrounded inside their vehicle as some attendees kicked and punched dents in the patrol car. "Fortunately we had police nearby that were able to respond and back them up," Chief Inspector Les Bulluss said.9News was told supporters swarmed the street for a YouTuber who was visiting to showcase the neighbourhood."None of this was done with the endorsement of the family," Bulluss said.Police have slammed those who attended the gathering.
"Potential for a tragedy just cannot be understated, they're putting their lives at danger," Bulluss said.
