CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Conor MacEachern has many fond memories growing up and playing minor hockey in Charlottetown, and some of those include attending UPEI games.
“It’s really an honour and seeing kids at the games, I was in their position once, too. On top of that, my family gets to see me play, and I always have a few of my buddies at the games and they are always supporting me. I couldn’t have picked a better place to play, honestly.”MacEachern, who played three years with the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League before playing his final season of junior eligibility with the Summerside D.
“We are really looking to take advantage of home ice against a team that is just below us in the standings and a team that is just above us in the standings,” said MacEachern, a business administration student. “With Moncton, we know they are going to come out and play a fast, physical game. “It wasn’t like I was getting pushed around in my first year; it was asserting myself physically using my speed, skating ability and size and strength as well,” said MacEachern, who turns 24 on Dec. 8.
