Also at Hamptons, original member Wayne Allardyce was one-and-done on No. 12 thanks to a nifty nine-iron that travelled 125 yards. That’s five for Allardyce, who might be able to offer some advice for the rest of us.

Mike Borody completed his personal hole-in-one hat-trick during league action at Links of GlenEagles. Borody nailed a nine-iron on No. 5 and although he lost track of that downhill shot in the evening sun, his son-in-law was adamant that he’d jarred it and indeed he had. Hole 13 at McCall Lake proved lucky for Gordon Simmons, who was spot-on with a six-iron from 187 yards back.
