That was 60 years ago.
“It was soft” Arbuckle remembered stepping on the ice for the first time at John Brother MacDonald Stadium. “That’s the first thing I noticed was how soft the ice was compared to the ice I would skate on in the yard.”“The first game we played, we won three-nothing, and I scored all three goals.” “I remember seeing my brothers sitting behind the bench," said Arbuckle."They would holler and cheer every time I scored the goal."
The pair have been attending the parent-tot skate at the Pictou County YMCA Wellness Centre, grabbing ice time whenever they can.
