“An interim management committee will be put in place, which will guide the organization until no later than a newly constituted board appoints a new CEO to lead the organization,” reads a Hockey Canada news release. It was revealed in May that a settlement had been paid by Hockey Canada to a woman who alleged she was sexually assaulted by eight players after a 2018 gala in London, Ont.
“Halifax and Moncton have always been events cities and hockey towns, and we shared the excitement of co-hosting the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Junior Championship,” reads a statement issued Friday by Halifax Mayor Mike Savage and Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold. On Tuesday, the governing body for hockey in P.E.I. said it is withholding player fees from Hockey Canada, while calling for the national organization to make immediate and significant operational and governance changes.
