Mary Zimmerman’s 2006 Argonautika is a retelling of the Greek epic poem Jason and the Argonauts and the quest for the Golden Fleece which director Randi Edmundson says allows him “to play with what makes live theatre fun and exciting. Edmundson promises Argonautika, which runs in the University Theatre Feb. 10-18, is “a true spectacle featuring mythology’s favourite gods, monsters and creatures.” This 2009 Tony Award-winning play is about Peter and his fellow orphans who were shipped off to a mysterious island ruled by the evil King Zarboff but had their lives changed by a young Starcatcher-in-training named Molly. It is a Starcatcher’s sole responsibility to catch stardust as it falls to earth and keep it out of the clutches of people who will misuse it.
