Residents from Sydney's Hills region say they have been let down by the New South Wales budget, claiming 'critical' infrastructure needed in the area has been overlooked.
The Planning Minister announced another 4500 homes were being built at the Castle Hills Showground Station earlier this week, prompting concern from residents who say the area lacks infrastructure to support the extra population.
"The fact that the cap has been lifted without the announcement of a school, without the funding of a school, without that critical infrastructure being delivered for our community, it shows contempt for our community here in the Hills," Hills Shire Mayor Peter Gangemi said.Residents say the roads cannot cope as it is, and that schools are already at capacity.
"I have been to the Castle Hill High School. They have 51 - 51 demountable buildings. It is overcrowding, it is bursting at the seams," Councillor Mark Hodges said.
