JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POST.SYDNEY, N.S. – Luc Sampson set the tone early for the Riverview Ravens in their quest for the School Sport Nova Scotia Highland Region championship banner.
Sampson scored three times to complete the hat trick, while adding a pair of assists, to lead the Ravens to a 7-0 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in their best-of-three semifinal series at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre on Tuesday. Along with Sampson, Matthew Burke scored twice, while Carter MacDonald and Royce Balcom chipped in with single markers for the Ravens.
Riverview’s Ryan MacDonald stopped all 17 shots he faced. Sydney Academy’s Brody Campbell turned aside 31 of 38 shots. The Ravens will have the opportunity to advance to the Highland Region final on Friday when they host the Wildcats at 8 p.m. at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.@CBPost_JeremyIt has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
