High-profile film shoots with Jude Law, Peter Dinklage, heading to Alberta yyc yycarts
Deadline, an industry website, reported earlier this month that Oscar-nominated British actor Jude Law and British actor Nicholas Hoult, currently winning rave reviews for his work in the dark comedy The Menu, will star in The Order. The thriller will be directed by Australian director Justin Kurzel, who directed 2015’s Macbeth. The film is set in 1983 and stars Law as an FBI agent investigating a series of violent bank robberies organized by a domestic terrorist played by Hoult.
Peter Dinklage, seen here in the film Cyrano, will be in the Calgary area in the coming weeks filming The Thicket.Kurt Sutter’s The Abandons, a western series being shot for Netflix, is also set to shoot in Alberta later this year. According to, the series is set in 1850s Oregon and “follows a group of diverse outlier families in their pursuit of Manifest Destiny.” So far, no cast has been announced. Sutter is best known as the creator of the FX biker-gang drama Sons of Anarchy.
