Fil-Am mentor Erik Spoelstra shares how he took an unusual path to coaching in the NBA.

“ is one of my favorite people, one of my biggest mentors,” he said. “Pat is my biggest mentor and he’s guided me through this journey, but Stan was the first coach that really gave me confidence on the floor, player development. Right after the meeting, Spoelstra said he immediately shred the news to his parents – his father Jon, a former NBA executive, and Filipino mother Elisa Celino, who traces her roots in San Pablo City, Laguna.
Superstars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh led the Heat, but another big-time player in their roster was veteran shooter Ray Allen.
