In a speech during the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas Leaders' Convergence Summit in Manila on Friday, Marcos said his own political party has the 'best candidates' and the 'strongest party' in the midterm elections. Marcos, also national chairman of the PFP, assured the administration's candidates for national and local positions that the party would do everything to help them secure their victory in the midterm polls. The president also said they intended to add more people to the party to help the administration develop and implement their plans for our country. At least three of the PFP's senatorial candidates were at the summit: Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino, former interior secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., and former senator Manny Pacquiao. Marcos also convened all 1,300 party members, including incumbent and aspiring government officials from Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, and other key regions, to engage in discussions. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that 1,246,373 business enterprises are operating in the country as of 2023. In a speech during the One Development Academy of the Philippines graduation ceremony in Pasay City on Friday, the president asked the 661 graduates to be 'stewards of transparency and good governance.' Marcos urged the 661 graduates, who were holding senior and middle management positions in various agencies, to ensure transparency and integrity in fulfilling their roles. The president told them to start by helping the government improve the delivery of services and the ease of public transactions, such as reducing red tape and eliminating unnecessary bureaucratic processes.READ: First lady to represent PH at World Govts SummitFIRST lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will represent the Philippines at the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai this month, Malacañang said. In a text message, Presidential Communications acting Secretary Cesar Chavez said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would not be joining the first lady during the summit. In a Facebook post, Araneta-Marcos shared a photo of a preliminary meeting at her office in preparation for her attendance at the summit. In another post on her official Instagram account, the first lady expressed enthusiasm about participating in the international gathering. The World Governments Summit 2025 is scheduled from Feb. 11 to 13. It has been recognized as a global benchmark for improving government work and formulating long-term strategies for constructive international cooperation. The summit is expected to host over 6,000 attendees, including over 200 speakers and representatives from over 80 international, regional, and intergovernmental organizations. Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. said the agreements were reached following their 36th meeting held on Jan. 31, which coincided with the 6th Founding Anniversary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao . Galvez said the meeting focused on advancing the peace initiatives under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro and ensuring the sustainability of peace in the region. He said the panels, co-chaired by Cesar Yano from the government side and Mohagher Iqbal from the MILF side, committed to the full implementation of all aspects of the CAB. Key agreements included the adoption of a new monitoring and evaluation system for the normalization process. In a decision penned by Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez, the Second Division of the Supreme Court upheld the sole custody of an OFW mother over her minor children, with provisional custody granted to their maternal grandmother residing in the Philippines. Patrick Gregorio, head of Landco Pacific Corporation, said in an exclusive interview Friday that they 'copy-paste' their benefits and status and carried them over to their company during the one-year interim management contract they have with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority . He met with some of the employees on Friday morning for a general assembly, where they were advised to be patient while their job status undergoes assessment. Landco entered into a one-year interim contract — extendible by another one year — with the BCDA to manage The Manor Hotel, Forest Lodge and the CAP Cultural and Trade convention center inside Camp John Hay following the government's takeover of 240 hectares of leased property from the former developer.
