Police are probing whether three cold-blooded murderers had tipped police off about a missing persons case, which led to four constables being sent to a remote and secluded property where they were then ambushed.
, and his wife Stacey, were heavily armed and lying in wait on Monday when constables Matthew Arnold, 26, Rachel McCrow, 29, Keely Brough and Randall Kirk, both 28, arrived to the Wieambilla home for a welfare check.
"When he could not be contacted by family or friends, he was reported missing to officers from Central North Police District on Sunday , who immediately commenced inquiries into his whereabouts," it read.The constables had arrived in the afternoon to check on a missing person report that had been flagged by New South Wales Police., which was later identified as Nathaniel Train.
"NSW Police acted on that and asked their Queensland counterparts to look into it as part of a routine missing persons' inquiry.Both Queensland and NSW Police have refused to comment on the claim from the sources due to the ongoing investigation. Police believe the move by the trio was premediated to ambush the unsuspecting junior officers who were tasked to attend the address for a welfare check on a missing New South Wales person, which was later discovered to be Nathaniel.
