Trent Robinson has voiced his admiration for Ben Hunt after the veteran No.7 was let go by the Dragons.

The Roosters have emerged as a potential suitor for Ben Hunt in a move that could potentially thwart a Brisbane homecoming.

The Roosters will start the season without Sam Walker and Brandon Smith, who are recovering from ACL injuries. Hunt’s ability to cover both positions makes him an attractive option. “Obviously with a nine and seven, it didn’t only affect the back end of this year, it affects next year as well. We’re really comfortable with some of the young players that we’ve got coming through, but we are also looking at covering those positions if it’s right. We don’t feel like we’re in a rush, but if it’s right then we’ll look at options.”Pressed on the possibility of pursuing Hunt, Robinson said: “He’s an exceptional player.
