SINGAPORE: Fewer Housing and Development Board flats were sold in the resale market in the first quarter of this year amid the COVID-19 outbreak, official figures released on Friday showed.

A total of 5,893 flats were sold in the January to March period, a decline of 7 per cent from the 6,339 flats sold in the fourth quarter of last year.However, when compared on a year-on-year basis, the number of transactions was up 21.9 per cent, according to HDB data. Prices held steady, with the resale price index – which provides information on the general price movements in the resale public housing market – remaining unchanged from the previous quarter at 131.5.
