The Prime Minister lashed out at media as he left an event at Parliament House after being asked whether there were divisions within Labor on the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal.

Mr Albanese on Tuesday instead told the media"to have a bit of respect" as he walked away from journalists inside Parliament House.

Under the proposal, Australia will procure up to eight nuclear-propelled submarines that are planned to begin hitting the water from the 2030s.three Labor MPs have since voiced concerns about costs involved and the use of nuclear technology. Sky News Australia has been told the MPs asked Mr Albanese if there would be any impact on other government services and the implications on national sovereignty.

"I'm not yet convinced that we can adequately deal with the non-proliferation risks involved in what is a novel arrangement by which a non-nuclear weapons state under the Non-Proliferation Treaty comes to acquire weapons-grade material," he said.
