PETALING JAYA: The long Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday has given the food and beverage industry a boost, says an industry player.
Malaysia and Singapore Coffee Shop Proprietor General Association president Wong Teu Hoon said that this is because holidays are often a time for people to gather with friends and family.Citing Melaka as an example, he said that all coffee shops were already packed on Saturday with many tourists waiting in line for a seat.
"Many Klang Valley residents come here on long weekends to shop and eat, and there are also a lot of tourists. Caterers are doing well these days," he added."Singaporean tourists tend to visit Johor Baru on weekends for shopping, as there are not many tourist attractions there,” said Hor.
