Greens deputy leader Mehreen Faruqi is suing One Nation leader Pauline Hanson over an allegedly racist tweet calling on the senator to “piss off back to Pakistan”.
The Greens senator for NSW expressed her condolences to those who knew the Queen, before adding: “I cannot mourn the leader of a racist empire built on stolen lives, land and wealth of colonised peoples.”
“Senator Hanson telling me to … ‘piss off back to Pakistan’ was insulting and humiliating enough, but it also unleashed a frenzy of hate and abuse targeted at me for days,” Faruqi said in a written statement.“Like many migrants and people of colour in this country, I’ve been told to ‘go back to where I come from’ hundreds of times and it never gets easier.
Lawyers acting for the senator are seeking that Hanson: be restricted from using the phrases “piss off back to Pakistan,” “go back to where you came from” or any variation; remove the tweet and “pin” a post to the top of her Twitter account acknowledging the unlawfulness of the original tweet; make a $150,000 contribution to a non-profit or community organisation of Faruqi’s choosing; and undertake anti-racism training at Hanson’s own cost.

The Greens, it turns out, do know the value of a buck … and they are pushing changes to tax concessions that it seems they are already taking care of – which will never be taken away from them because any changes to negative gearing will never be retrospective.”

‘Ridiculous proposal’: Greens slammed for push to open injecting rooms for studentsSky News host James Macpherson questions “what drugs the Victorian Greens are on” as they push for the state government’s injecting facility to open for students and permanently remain next to a primary school. The Victorian parliament will debate this week whether to make the North Richmond supervised injecting facility permanent. Mr Macpherson slammed Greens’ drug-harm reduction spokesman Aiv Puglielli for claiming the push was based on “expert health advice”. “Progressive politics is now an inside joke where politicians and activists compete to see who can come up with the most ridiculous proposal and then laugh together at how far they can push it,” Mr Macpherson said.
