Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Energy has again raised the stakes in the takeover battle for Warrego Energy, lifting its bid by 29 per cent.
Gina Rinehart’s Hancock is part of a bidding war for Warrego.The 29 per cent increase came after Chris Ellison’s Mineral Resources was linked to the acquisition of a 15 per cent stake in Warrego at 35¢ a share on Wednesday.
The Warrego share price jumped almost 9 per cent to 37.5¢ in early trading on Thursday while Strike was up more than 12 per cent to 37.7¢. MinRes is yet to confirm it now holds a 15 per cent stake in Warrego, but Mr Ellison has made clear his desire to control onshore gas assets in the Perth Basin to power downstream processing.
