Dangerous offender John Francis Dionne, 56, received an indeterminate prison sentence in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Halifax on Friday. That sentence, imposed in Alberta provincial court in September 2012, was for abducting a 10-year-old girl from a Calgary store and impersonating a police officer. Dionne, 56, pleaded guilty in March 2021 to breaching three different conditions of the long-term supervision order out of Alberta and four conditions of the Moncton peace bond.

“At least one other sexual assault against a sex-trade worker was reduced to assault,” the Parole Board of Canada said in a 2019 decision. Dionne, in his testimony, insisted he is ready and motivated to turn his life around and deserves a second chance.
