McIntosh's sentencing hearing is set for June 26 in Halifax provincial court. - FacebookHALIFAX, N.S. — A Middleton man will be sentenced in June on a pair of charges from a bizarre armed robbery at a Halifax store last September.
Judge Kelly Serbu ordered a presentence report at the request of the defence and scheduled McIntosh’s sentencing hearing for June 26. Defence lawyer Godfred Chongatera said he will be filing “quite a bit of documentation” for the hearing and might call evidence from one witness.The prosecutor said McIntosh entered the Canadian Tire store in Bayers Lake Business Park last Sept. 1 while armed with a golf club, an aerosol can and a lighter, “which he used to make a small flamethrower.”Halifax Regional Police said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken in the robbery.
He pleaded not guilty to all 10 charges in December. Dates had yet to be set for his trial when he changed his pleas on two of the counts.McIntosh is free on a Sept. 6 bail order in the amount of $3,000 that requires him to live with his surety, his father, in Middleton and observe a 9 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew.
