Guest club Hong Kong Eastern felt right at home in its first PBA game, thrashing Phoenix in a dominant fashion, 102-87, in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena. HK Eastern showed no jitters right from the start and just took care of business the rest of the way for a 1-0 start while the Fuel Masters fell to a 0-1 card.
"HK Eastern flipped the switch in the second half, turning a slim 49-45 cushion at the break after Blankley went off in the third quarter with a perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the field as they built a 77-65 separation. Phoenix was unable to get back on its feet despite getting stellar offensive nights from Donovan Smith and Jason Perkins, who both had 18 points each in the first half alone.
