Our government has sought to take a responsible approach of providing targeted support to vulnerable Canadians, while being mindful of government spending to avoid pushing inflation higher.As chairperson of the Agriculture Committee, I have brought issues that matter to our farmers in Kings-Hants to the national level. I have driven initiatives that support our growing wine sector and our supply managed farms, while pushing for additional funding as part of the Canadian Agriculture Partnership.
On affordability, the Old Age Security increase of 10 per cent for those 75 and older is now in effect, and we have increased the threshold for those who can earn income without losing their Guaranteed Income Supplement — both key measures for seniors.
