NORTH EAST POINT, N.S. — Nova Scotia’s weather predicting critters, Lucy the Lobster and Shubenacadie Sam, both saw their shadows at 8 a.m. on Groundhog Day, Feb. 2.
“We’re five minutes away from Lucy the Lobster crawling out of the Atlantic Ocean,” announced Donna Hatt to the crowd. “Lucy you better be ready. You’re our lobster. You’ve got five minutes to go.” This year’s Lucy weighed in at seven-and-three-quarter pounds. When placed on top of her weather predicting lobster trap, there was a shadow.
