The Greens are calling on the Victorian government to intensively promote mask wearing and be prepared to enact density limits, so the state does not “sleepwalk towards another health crisis” amid an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Over the period of November 25 to December 1, Victoria recorded 26,971 new COVID-19 infections – up 21.4 per cent from the week prior.

Greens health spokesperson Dr Tim Read said the state cannot “sleepwalk” towards another crisis. “Unless we retain some basic public health measures there will be nothing to slow the next increase in COVID which may not be far away,” Dr Read said.
