Australia’s lacklustre IPO market may be snapped into action as global investor interest in new offerings like chip designer Arm revives IPO hopes.

The successful sharemarket debut of chip designer Arm could galvanise Australia’s ASX hopefuls into accelerating their listing plans, capitalising on appetite for new investment ideas and a shrewd decision to keep the offering tight.

“The first half of 2023 has proven to be one of the most challenging periods for IPOs in Australia,” Mr Ohm said. “But in the last few months we’ve been seeing a lot more inquiries from clients. Not all of these inquiries will eventuate an IPO or raising, but even if a third of those eventuate then things are looking a lot better.”

The valuation “looks full,” analyst Charles Shi wrote last week. “Arm can grow by capturing greater value from smartphones, but not enough to support upside from the stock’s IPO valuation.”Advertisement
